Blue Tractor Brewery + BBQ: Restaurant Review

When you’re craving BBQ, the Blue Tractor is your best bet in Ann Arbor.

The Blue Tractor is one part BBQ joint, one part brewery. The restaurant is upstairs and there’s a bourbon bar, aptly named “Mash” in its basement.

I love dining at restaurants that brew their own beer.

The Beer: The brewery creates award-winning craft brewed beer and has eight varieties on tap daily.

All beer is brewed in the basement.

I strongly recommend the six beer sampler, which comes to the table in the cutest little muffin tin. It’s properly labeled {who expects you to remember what you’re drinking after the waitress leaves the table???} so you can discover which beer you like best.

Food: Tasty BBQ with four sauces delivered to your table to choose from. Some people may expect their meal to arrive with a lot of sauce. I prefer to select my sauce and add as much or as little as I’d like, thus, I was thrilled that my sandwich arrived on the drier side.

I ordered a pulled chicken slider and thought it was tasty. Also ordered the triple mac and cheese and the greens. I wasn’t crazy about the greens, but thought everything else was yummy.

The Decor: the interior was a little dark. I had to use my iPhone flashlight to see the menu. As a result, my photos of the food aren’t the greatest. Still, I liked the tractor parts decorating the walls, and the distance that separates the restaurant area from the bar area. The bar is a long component of the restaurant’s decor, spanning the length of the wall. Gigantic beer vats span the back of the bar providing perfect decor!

Outside, there’s patio seating in the summertime. Just inside the front door, there’s a take out counter.

Overall: great place for BBQ and a beer!!
