I’m a big fan of burgers and beers. When my cousin suggested Bagger Dave’s restaurant I had to check it out.
I was a little worried: a burger chain in a strip mall?
But, he assured me that they had turkey burgers and beers, so I overlooked its location and visited the Ann Arbor location.
Indeed, Bagger Dave’s is in a strip mall. When you enter, a toy train circles overhead, and the entry has a take out area, bar and lots of televisions. Photos of the area frame the walls.
We arrived shortly before close and received an enthusiastic greeting from our waiter–even though it was the end of his shift. He suggested a flight of four beers, and we immediately became friends.
He handed us a “create-your-own” menu and we selected burgers, toppings and fries. I ordered a turkey burger and sweet potato chips. The turkey burger was juicy and delicious. I don’t always enjoy turkey burgers at restaurants, and was pleasantly surprised.
Although I don’t make eating in strip malls a regular habit, there was much to like about Bagger Dave’s:
- There’s plenty of parking
- The train circling overhead is entertaining for small guests
- The restaurant had a great choice of Michigan beers
- It’s tricky to prepare turkey burgers, these folks got it right
- The restaurant has plenty of TVs if you’re interested in eating + watching the game
I’d return to Bagger Dave’s and prefer it to other fast casual options like Applebee’s or TGIFridays.
There are plenty of burger options (turkey, beef, veggie) and Bagger Dave’s has a great Michigan beer selection.
